ASTORIA — Everyone's Irish on March 17 — even tequila drinkers.
Hip Astoria eatery Pachanga Patterson, which serves a menu of modern Mexican-inspired dishes, is getting in on the St. Patrick's day revelry with a weekend drink special that blends tequila with Jameson Irish Whiskey.
The bar will be serving William Lamports all weekend, a signature drink named after a 17th-century seafaring Irish-born swordsman who spent the end of his life in Mexico, and is believed to be the inspiration behind "Zorro."
The $10 cocktail is a blend of their house tequila, an ounce of Jameson, lime juice and grapefruit syrup from the Brooklyn-based P&H Soda Co, served on the rocks in a salt-rimmed glass.
"It's an Irish twist on a margarita," said manager Dawid Dabrowicz, who added that it's not the first time they've mixed tequila and whiskey in a signature drink.
"It’s a new trend in mixology now," he said. "A lot of speakeasy bars, they try to combine different types of liquor. Last year we had a drink that was a blend of Jack Daniels and tequila."
Pachanga Patterson, which opened two years ago at 33-17 31st Ave., serves upscale Mexican food. Its frequently-changing menu often includes dishes with an Asian or Mediterranean twist, like sweet-and-sour pork tacos or a calamari and orange tostada.
