French-Asian bakery sensation Tous Les Jours in Koreatown was shut down over the weekend for a raft of health violations city inspectors found Friday, including signs of a potential mouse infestation and possible food contamination.
The restaurant and bakery, part of a chain that spans from New Jersey to California, was slapped with 78 violation points for 10 violations, including "raw, cooked or prepared food [that was] adulterated, contaminated, cross-contaminated or not discarded" properly and "evidence of mice or live mice present in facility's food and/or non-food areas," the health department's website shows.
Tous Les Jours reopened Tuesday morning after getting clearance from health inspectors, a store employee told DNAinfo.com New York. He declined to comment further. Calls to the city's Department of Health were not immediately returned.
Tous Les Jours opened on West 32nd Street in Midtown last summer. Since then, it has earned 3.5 out of 5 stars on Yelp, receiving high marks for its shaved ice, pastries and baguettes, but occasional poor reviews for concerns about cleanliness, including pastries allegedly coated in "dust" and "soy milk that...apparently had gone bad. No wonder the milk floated and looked chunky."
Tous Les Jours' corporate office in Los Angeles did not return calls for comment.
