Roberta's Pizza Hopes to Add Bike Parking this Spring

EAST WILLIAMSBURG — Roberta's Pizza is aiming to install four bike racks on its East Williamsburg block to accommodate cycling slice lovers.

"We have collected over 100 signatures from our local businesses and neighbors," Roberta's representative Leah Schonberg said about the introduction at 263 Moore St., which would include planters.

"Everyone is very excited."

The corrals would be placed between two garage doors down the street from Roberta's, she said.

"Most importantly, a bike corral in a heavy bike trafficked area makes for less clutter on the sidewalk and street, allowing cars, bicycles and people to travel with ease," said Schonberg of the sidewalk where several bikes were locked against street signs and gates Friday.

The Department of Transportation and Roberta's will be discussing the plan at a Williamsburg Community Board One meeting later this month, officials said.

The Roberta's proposal follows a recent initiative for bike parking nearby in the neighborhood that was slammed by Bushwick's Community Board 4 and did not earn city approval.
