Twitter Account Asks for Makeout Pics at Columbia University

UPPER WEST SIDE — A kiss on Columbia University's campus can go viral these days.

That's because an anonymous Twitter account, @columbiamakeout, is asking people to tweet them makeout pics captured at the prestigious university.

The handle, which on Monday had a modest 156 followers, is causing a stir on campus. More than a dozen photos of people kissing have already been uploaded, including same-sex pairs.

The undergraduate monthly magazine The Blue and the White tweeted last Thursday, "If you want to see your classmates drunkenly making out, but don't want to leave your room, you're in luck: ."

The student newspaper, the Columbia Spectator, observed, "It’s a little refreshing (but also a tad bit creepy) to see people in actual physical contact with each other."

The account, created earlier this month, puts the smooches on blast giving the kiss a shelf life long beyond the initial public display of affection.

It's not clear in any of the photos if the smooching couple gave permission.

"If you catch a columbia makeout on camera tweet it at me, or if you prefer anonymity DM it or email it to columbiamakeout@gmail.com," the account reads.

"Have fun kids," it says.

The as-yet anonymous creator did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

Columbia University declined to comment.

One student balked at the Twitter account. "How immature and sex-starved are we that we actually consider strangers making out in bars (OH THE HORROR) something worth gawping at online?"

Another commented "If you don’t want people to know, don’t do it in public."
