EAST VILLAGE — Boca Chica, a colorful Latin-American restaurant in the East Village, has closed temporarily as the owner searches for new partners in the business, a source said.
The neighborhood fixture at 13 First Ave. closed on Monday as two partners exited the business, according to a source, who added that the remaining owner is now frantically searching for new partners to keep the moderately priced eatery from closing for good.
"If we close it is due to just [the] partners problem, not because we are not doing well, not because we lost our popularity," the source said.
Boca Chica has been open since 1989 at the corner of East 1st Street and First Avenue.
