Pie Face Opens Third Restaurant in Midtown, Plans Fourth in Chelsea

By Alan Neuhauser | February 19, 2013 1:03pm

MIDTOWN — New York's favorite 24-hour Australian pie chain opened its third city location Tuesday — and several more are planned for Midtown "rather soon," sources said.

Pie Face, which serves baked pies filled with meats, vegetables, cheeses and sweets, opened at 469 Seventh Ave., one block from Penn Station.

The space, which features exposed brick, colorful tables and chairs and free wi-fi, is Pie Face's first sit-down location. It's other two locations — at 53rd Street and Broadway and 34th Street and Third Avenue — offer only takeout.

The opening of the Seventh Avenue restaurant was first reported by the blog MidtownLunch.com.

"Being 24-hours, we like being able to have a mix with businesses as well as tourists," said Pie Face catering and marketing manager Luke Forand.

"With the larger space, it was kind of a no-brainer for us."

The new store also debuted Pie Face's mini quiches, a wider breakfast selection and fresh-squeezed orange juice — items the chain plans to introduce at its other Midtown stores.

The next restaurant is planned near 23rd Street and Seventh Avenue in Chelsea, Forand said.

"It's still under construction," he said.

"As Frank Sinatra said, 'If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.' This is just the beginning."
