Luke's Lobster Ready to Get Cracking Again After Sandy

FINANCIAL DISTRICT — More than three months after Hurricane Sandy, Luke’s Lobster’s Downtown outpost is ready to roll again.

The popular seafood chain, known for its fresh Maine lobster, crab and shrimp rolls, will finally reopen its South William Street location next week, Ben Conniff, the chain’s vice-president, said in an email.

The shop will get back to business on Thursday, Feb. 21 with a recovery celebration featuring $3 beers and “special guests” starting at 5 p.m.

The reopening party also doubles as the store’s kick-off to NYC Beer Week, which features craft brew tastings and dinner pairings at bars and restaurants across the city and runs from Feb. 22 through March 3.

“We are incredibly excited that the storm has finally passed and wishing the best for those of our neighbors who are still rebuilding,” Conniff said in an email.

Luke’s Lobster opened its much-anticipated 18-seat Downtown location at 26 S. William St. in June 2011.

Owners Conniff and Luke Holden launched the first Luke's Lobster in the East Village in 2009 and quickly gained a following for their spice-dusted Maine lobster rolls, chowders and Maine microbrews.

The pair now has additional locations on the Upper West Side, Upper East Side and in Washington, D.C. — as well as a traveling food truck that will hit the road again this spring.
