Chocolate and Raspberry Pancakes Celebrate Valentine's Day at LES Cafe

By Ben Fractenberg | February 13, 2013 9:21pm

LOWER EAST SIDE — Let them eat pancakes.

The Clinton St. Baking Company is currently celebrating its annual Pancake Month with exotic new flavors each day — and the eatery is cooking up a special raspberry batch for Valentine's Day.

The pancakes with dark chocolate chunks, fresh raspberries and raspberry-caramel sauce will only be available on Thursday, according to the popular brunch spot's website.

By Friday, the eatery will have moved on to pancakes with pistachio frangipane with real burgundy cherries and roasted, crushed pistachios.

The rest of the month will include coconut pancakes with caramelized pineapple, bruleed bananas, roasted macadamia nuts and warm maple butter (Feb. 18 and 19); candied orange peel, bittersweet chocolate pistols and blood orange syrup (Feb. 20 and 21); raspberry pancakes again with toasted almond butter and vanilla bean whipped cream (Feb. 22 and 25); and crunchy bananas with cinnamon-chili-chocolate sauce (Feb. 26, 27 and 28).

The cafe at 4 Clinton St. serves the pancake specials Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
