Brooklyn Health Centers Offer Free STD Tests for Valentine's Day

EAST WILLIAMSBURG — If roses and chocolates seem only to scratch the surface of your romantic gesture this Valentine's Day, some Brooklyn doctors urge you to share a more intimate gift — your STD profile.

Three health centers in the borough are offering couples — and singles — free HIV and Hepatitis C testing all week in honor of the Thursday holiday, the centers announced in an email.

"Take a test for love," instructed the email sent by the Community Healthcare Network, the non-profit that oversees the clinics.

The three centers — East Williamsburg's CABS Health Center on Manhattan Avenue, Crown Heights' Carribean House Health Center and East New York's Dr. Betty Shabazz Health Center — are open for free testing during open clinic hours and can provide visitors with their results in 20 minutes, the announcement says. Medical professionals are also available to talk to patients on site.

The tests are available all week, and clinic hours can be found on the Community Healthcare Network's website.
