INWOOD — An uptown pharmacy that was displaced by a devastating fire is returning to the corner of 207th Street — and bringing along its sweet tooth.
Dichter Pharmacy announced Monday that it will be relocating to 4935 Broadway at 207th Street — just a few doors down from their previous location at 4943 Broadway near 207th Street — and it will be expanding to serve ice cream.
"Thanks to your support over the past year since the fire we were able to relocate and now I have just signed a lease to a new location," owner Manny Ramirez wrote on Facebook Monday.
"Inwood is the best neighborhood in NYC and I sincerely appreciate and love servicing this community!"
Ditcher, which has been located in Inwood since the 1940s, was forced to move to a smaller space at 4975 Broadway near Isham Street after following the massive fire in early 2012.
Several other businesses, including Bread & Yoga, Furry Fiends, and Splash Laundromat were also destroyed in the blaze.
Ramirez says the new location is five times larger than the original location, allowing the pharmacy to carry a larger inventory of supplies. In fact, Ramirez is asking for suggestions on what products to carry.
In addition, Ramirez said that Dicther hopes to add a soda fountain and ice cream to their offerings when it moves to the new location in the Spring.
"Just like the old-time pharmacies," Ramirez said, "with outside seating and the whole nine yards."
