RICHMOND HILL —  An unidentified body was discovered in a detached garage that caught on fire early Saturday morning in Queens, the NYPD said.

Fire officials said the flames, which began around 12:58 a.m. had fully engulfed the garage at 103-41 120th St. The fire was put out fifteen minutes later, and that's when police made the discovery of a body covered in burns, police said.

The burn victim was pronounced dead on arrival by rescuers on the scene, and it was unclear whether the victim was a male or female, police said.

The adjacent residence appeared to be vacant, police said.

An investigation as to the cause of the fire is ongoing by the Fire Marshal, and the victim's identity and cause of death is pending a medical examiner's report and further investigation, police said.
