THE BRONX — A grenade was found on 238th Street in The Bronx Friday afternoon, officials said.
The grenade was spotted between Waldo and Greystone avenues shortly before 2:30 p.m., the FDNY and NYPD said.
The NYPD's bomb squad responded and "rendered [the grenade] safe," a police source said.
The grenade was then taken to an NYPD facility, the source said.
Firefighters also responded to the scene and were on standby for about an hour before being called off, an FDNY spokesman said.
