CLIFTON — A 23-year-old man was killed in an early morning fire in Staten Island on Saturday, fire officials said.
The blaze broke out in a private, two-story Clifton house, at 5:37 a.m, and 12 fire engines and 60 firefighters were on the scene battling the flames, the FDNY said.
Rescuers pulled out a Jameek Champagne, 23, and he was determined to be dead at the scene, officials said.
Champagne's cause of death was not immediately apparent, officials said.
The flames were put down at 6:36 a.m., officials sand, and an investigation by the fire marshal would determine the cause of the deadly blaze.
