WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — Chipotle's moving uptown.
The popular Mexican grill chain is going to open a new location in Washington Heights, several city filings show.
Chipotle will open up shop at 4009 Broadway between West 168th and 169th Streets. The location was formerly Columbia Social, a cafe and restaurant that closed earlier this year.
The Department of Buildings approved a sign application for the restaurant on Oct. 10. In addition, the restaurant's liquor application went before the Community Board 12 Licensing Committee on Dec. 4 and will be voted on at the next general board meeting on Dec. 18.
Chipotle did not return requests for information on a scheduled opening date.
Currently, the closest Chipotle to Washington Heights is 2.8 miles away, located on Broadway and West 110th Street.
