Cops Hunt Man Suspected of Chain Snatching in The Bronx

MORRISANIA — The NYPD is asking for the public's help in tracking down a suspect accused of ripping a chain from a man's neck at a Prospect Avenue bodega.

The incident occurred Nov. 28 at 11:40 p.m. in the store, located at 976 Prospect Ave. near All Hallows Way, according to the NYPD.

The 54-year-old victim was at the bodega's front counter when the thief walked up behind him and removed his chain necklace, cops said.

The victim turned to fight his attacker, but couldn't prevent him from fleeing, police said.

The victim wasn't injured in the incident, cops said.

The suspect had short cropped black hair, a goatee, and was wearing a black shirt, according to surveillance video released by police.
