LINCOLN SQUARE — Matt Damon's on the hunt for Oscar.
The actor's newest film, "Promised Land," which premiered Tuesday night at Loews Lincoln Square, again pairs him with "Good Will Hunting" director Gus Van Zant, as well as "The Office" star John Krasinski and Rosemarie DeWitt in feature roles.
In the film, co-written by Damon and Krasinski, Damon plays a character charged with securing the rights to explore for natural gas from residents of a financially depressed Pennsylvania farm town. He comes up against Kransinski, playing a local who is against hydrofracking. DeWitt plays the love interest caught between the two.
The premiere attracted actors Stanley Tucci, Patricia Clarkson, Arden Maryn and Heather Matarazzo, newscasters Elizabeth Vargas and Contessa Brewer, and activist Robert Kennedy Jr.
The film opens on limited screens December 28.
