TREMONT — A 5-year-old girl was shot inside the courtyard of a Bronx building early Sunday, police said.
The little girl was outside the Hughes Avenue building near E. 179th Street in a courtyard area when she was shot in the stomach at 1:02 a.m., police said.
Officers rushed her to the hospital in a police vehicle, and she was recovering in stable condition Sunday morning at St. Barnabas Hospital, cops said.
It was unclear how or why the girl was fired upon, but an investigation was ongoing. No arrests had been made, police said.
