HUDSON HEIGHTS — An 87-year-old woman died in a fire in her home at a West 190th Street building early Thursday, police said.

The blaze broke at 900 W. 190th St., between Cabrini Boulevard and Fort Washington Avenue, about 3:30 a.m., FDNY and NYPD officials said.

When firefighters responded to the high-rise building, they found the 87-year-old woman unconscious and unresponsive in her apartment, officials said.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, had burns to her body, police said.

Emergency medical technicians raced to the scene, but the woman was pronounced dead a short time later, officials said.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death, police said.

The blaze was under control in roughly 30 minutes, the FDNY said.

Fire marshals were investigating the cause of the fire, but do not believe the blaze was suspicious, police said.
