UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS — Police have charged a Bronx man with murdering his 5-year-old  son by drowning him in a bathtub and attempting to kill his 7-year-old daughter.

Police detained Leonardo Espinal, 47, at around 1 a.m. on Wednesday after finding him sitting in a bathtub clutching his unconcious son, Stewart, at 86 W. 179th St. in University Heights.

The boy was rushed to St. Barnabus Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The father is also charged with attempted murder after he allegedly poisoned his 7-year-old daughter. She was rushed to Montefiore Medical Center where she was listed as stable, police said.
