UNION SQUARE — A woman died after falling several stories from a University Place building Monday morning, FDNY officials said.

The victim fell or jumped from 113 University Place, near East 13th Street, just before noon, an FDNY spokesman said.

“I saw somebody falling," said Andres Acuna, 29, who works across the street. "I heard something really loud. It’s the kind of thing you never want to see.”

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, the fire official said.

She has not been identified. Police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Emma Lander, 22, was working on the eleventh floor of the building Monday morning and said the woman who fell came into her office around 11 a.m.

"I asked who she was here to see. She said, 'I'm waiting for someone.' I left, and when I came back, she was gone," Lander said. "I just thought she was confused and didn't know where she was meeting someone."

It wasn't until police came in about a half hour later and showed her a picture of the woman from security footage that Lander realized what happened.

"I'm shaken up," Lander said.
