WILLIAMSBURG — Thousands of Hasidic Jews crammed into a section of Bedford Avenue in South Williamsburg Wednesday night to watch the wedding of their rabbi's grandson.

Rabbi Zalman Teitelbaum, one of the two main spiritual leaders of Satmar Hasidic Judaism, presided over the wedding of his grandson Chaim Hersch Rosenberger and Classoner Rav Scher, who married about 8 p.m. on a podium perched over Bedford Avenue at Williamsburg Street.

"Everybody feels it," said one young man at the ceremony about the close-knit community. "It's very personal."

After the ceremony thousands of people locked arms and danced together in the street.

They swarmed past the podium into buses, waiting to take them to a celebration for the wedding at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
