Vampire Burlesque Takes a Bite Out of Lower East Side

By Stephanie Keith | October 17, 2012 8:33am

LOWER EAST SIDE — These performers bared more than their fangs.

A troupe of burlesque dancers put on a vampire-inspired show at R Bar on the Bowery Tuesday night, channeling bloodsuckers from "Twilight" to "True Blood" for the Halloween-themed revue.

About 60 guests took in Hotsy Totsy Burlesque's monthly show, whose performers have portrayed everyone from famous superheroes to charcters from the hit fantasy series "Game of Thrones."

Host Cherry Pitz, playing the role of vampire hunter, summed up the night of dirty dancing in her remarks to the rollicking crowd.

"You bring the vampires out and I'll dispatch them," she told co-host Handsome Brad. "But first we get them naked."
