'Jersey Shore' Star 'The Situation' Unveils PETA Ad in Times Square

TIMES SQUARE — "Jersey Shore" star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino took an unlikely stance in Thursday by advocating against sex — for cats and dogs.

The muscled reality TV cast member unveiled a new ad in Times Square for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) that pairs the shirtless star with frolicking kittens.

"Here's the Situation: There are more cats in shelters than there are homes for them," the ad reads. Cats and dogs need safe sex, too!"

Sorrentino said in a video posted on PETA's website that he teamed up with the animal-rights group to call attention to the need for pet owners to spay and neuter their animals.

"I'm partnering with PETA because I wanted to raise awareness about the overcrowding in our shelters today," he said in the video.

According to PETA, 6 to 8 million unwanted or lost cats and dogs enter animal shelters every year and half are euthanized.

The hugely popular "Jersey Show" recently entered into its sixth and final season on MTV.
