UPPER EAST SIDE — A fire broke out in a Second Avenue restaurant early Monday, the FDNY said.

More than 65 firefighters raced to the blaze at Pita Grill at 1083 Second Ave., near East 57th Street, shortly after 6 a.m., officials said.

The FDNY crews had the fire mostly under control about 40 minutes later, a fire spokesman said.

There was no one inside the two-story restaurant when the blaze broke out, and there have been no injuries reported, the spokesman added.
