LONG ISLAND CITY — These Chihuahuas prefer Chardonnay.
A Long Island City liquor store is throwing a "Puppy Party" this Friday so that wine aficionados and their four-legged pals can have some fun while helping out New York dog charities.
Court Square Wine and Spirits, at 24-20 Jackson Ave., will host a tasting of various alcohols, including vodka cocktails and some animal-themed wines, later this week.
And the store is encouraging patrons to bring their pooches along for the fun, as Camp Bow Wow, one of the LIC doggie day cares, will provide games for the tail-wagging set.
Among the vintages that will be available for tasting is Les Compagnons Wines, a California-based producer that features dogs on their labels and donates 10 percent of its proceeds to various New York dog charities, including Stray from the Heart and NY Save.
“We are a dog-friendly store,” said Maegan Kovatch, general manager and wine buyer at the shop, where many clients come to shop with their pups in tow.
“When I found out about this wine that donates certain proceeds to dog charities, I decided to have a puppy party.”
Kovatch reached out to other dog-friendly businesses in the neighborhood, where the number of pooches keeps growing.
The Creek and The Cave will serve hors d’oeuvre and KiKi LIC Photography, which specializes in dog photography, will take pictures of guests and their best friends.
“It’s going to be a really fun event," Kovatch said, "and hopefully we’ll make lots of money for dogs."
The party, which is free, runs from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21.
