GREENPOINT — Kids aren't the only ones starting school this week — entrepreneurs looking to amp up their start-up skills can head to The Yard workspace for a series of continuing education classes.

"Our goal here is to provide a curriculum that touches directly on the skills and knowledge that young entrepreneurs (read: hustlers) need to be successful in NYC and particularly in North Brooklyn," Andy Smith, The Yard's curriculum coordinator, wrote in an email.

Classes kick off Thursday at the with a workshop called "How not to suck at hiring for your startup," and then continue with "Get That YouTube Money," "How to Kick A-- on Kickstarter," and others.

"We're keeping it Brooklyn," Smith said, noting that teachers include local artist John Desseraeu, whose lecture will be called "Hustle Harder: How to Get Paid for Your Creativity."

"We wanted to appeal to local business people," Smith said, "people who work in tech and digital fields but also people who work in creative fields like visual art or writing."

Classes begin at The Yard, Sep. 6, and run throughout the fall. More information on times and prices can be found on The Yard's website.
