UPPER WEST SIDE — A fire broke out in a 14-story residential building shortly after 2 p.m. on Saturday, fire officials said.

The fire started on the 12th floor at 120 West 97th Street in apartment 12B, an FDNY spokesman said, and was an all-hands effort, requiring over 20 units responding to the scene, and more than 70 firefighters.

The fire was brought under control by 2:37 p.m., the spokesman said.

It was unclear immediately how the blaze began, but no injuries were reported initially.
