RIDGEWOOD — A 43-year-old off-duty police officer was found shot dead in an SUV on Tuesday morning in Queens in an apparent suicide, NYPD sources said.

Emergency responders received a call at 7:52 a.m. about a man passed out in a black 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe at Starr Street near the Linden Hill Cemetery in Ridgewood, according to an FDNY spokesman.

Paramedics found the man shot in the chest, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, the spokesman said.

Investigators blocked off Starr Street between Woodward and Metropolitan avenues.

NYPD officials said that suicide is suspected, but that the investigation is ongoing.
