EAST VILLAGE — You can’t spell “literature” without “T&A.”

That’s the motto of “Naked Girls Reading,” the cheeky literary salon that made a stop at the Under St. Mark’s theater space in the East Village Wednesday night.

The national series, featuring nude women reading from classic books artfully places over their private parts, took on “Myths and Legends” Wednesday with participants flipping through such titles as Rudyard Kipling’s “Just So Stories” and Ovid’s “Metamorphoses.”

About 50 people attended the reading, which combines the best aspects of literature, theater and burlesque, according to host Nasty Canasta.

The texts “could be discussed in many college courses, but let’s just be naked and read things,” she joked during the performance.

The series, which debuted in Chicago in 2009, has readings in cities ranging from Los Angeles and Honolulu to Vancouver and London.
