MANHATTAN — Police released video Tuesday of a man who allegedly attacked and robbed a 28-year-old woman in the lobby of an East Village apartment building last weekend.

The man allegedly followed the woman into the lobby of 116 Avenue C late Saturday, grabbed her from behind, threw her to the ground, and punched her several times in the face before snatching her purse and fleeing, police said.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, did not sustain serious injuries in the attack, cops stated.

The suspect was described as about 25 to 30 years old and 5-feet-7-inches tall, police said. He had close-cropped hair and was last seen wearing a dark T-shirt, beige shorts and black high-top sneakers.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS (8477). Members of the public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting tips to CRIMES (274637), then entering TIP577.
