MANHATTAN — A 38-year-old man with a checkered past was arrested for four robberies on the Lower East Side, the NYPD said.

Dion Whitehead was charged with four counts of robbery for allegedly mugging a 19-year-old man May 21, a 56-year-old man July 20, a pair of teenagers July 27, and a woman July 31, police said.

Whitehead would allegedly corner his victims at night, flash a gun or knife, then snatch their electronics, wallets and jewelry, police said. No one was reported injured.

The incidents fit the pattern of 12 other robberies reported in the Lower East Side and Gramercy Park since May 5, police stated. Whitehead has not been linked to those robberies.

The muggings remain under investigation.

Whitehead has been arrested nine times before, most notably for allegedly selling drugs and for attempted murder Dec. 25, 1994.

City and state court and prison records online do not show if he was convicted of any of the crimes.
