MANHATTAN — Wearing summer black in soaring July temperatures is far from a one note song.

The new directions in black clothing has been reported by Street Chic in the past, highlighting the looks of such emerging designers such as Jin Kay’s mixture of matte and shine as well as the super sexy body looks of Cushnie et Ochs.
The texture of the looks spotted in the street echo many of the runway's highlights and styling seen during Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week's Summer 2012 season.
Clothes have a complex and interesting drape, showcasing the back and shoulders. Fitted skinny black cotton pants worn with a draped light crape ladylike blouse show off sleeve details. There's a very European style of mixing black and navy.
A standout black-and-navy look was seen in a matte jersey and diaphanous cotton knit with a singular handcrafted artistic detail.
Some of the most intriguing silhouettes featuring black for summer were rooted in emerging trends seen the past few seasons during Fashion Week — the mixing of fabric weights, textures and seasons.
Street Chic spotted a leather skirt strappy cotton top and t-strap sandals in addition to a pair of gun metal black skinny leather jeans, worn with a sheer top with black paillette under-pinnings and black and tortoise embellished sandals.
Other eye-catching styling details stood out on the streets — wearing big bold jewelry with a knitted craft texture, modern-retro sensibilities of a shirtwaist dress with "New York Chelsea Girl" styling and the classic style of the quintessential flair of Annie Hall.
