INWOOD — Police are on the hunt for a drive-by gunman responsible for shooting a convicted felon who was out on parole and spending time in Inwood Sunday night, authorities said.

The shooting took place at approximately 6:30 p.m. at 108 Ellwood St. near Sherman Avenue, a residential street in Inwood, police said.

Witnesses said shots came from a gray van with Massachusetts plates, according to cops.

Authorities believe the victim, who police said has been convicted of several crimes ranging from drug sales to assault and is currently out on parole, was involved in a fight earlier in the day and was shot once in the stomach.

"It appears he was involved in a physical altercation earlier that day that contributed to this," a police source said.
