Video Shows Livery Cab Driver Who Tried to Rape Passenger in Astoria

ASTORIA — A livery cab driver followed his female passenger into her building in Astoria last Friday and tried to rape her, according to police.

The terrifying incident unfolded around 1:35 a.m. at the 20-year-old victim's apartment building on 30th Street and 34th Avenue.

According to police, the woman was able to break free after being attacked. The attacker than got back to his car and drove away.

The woman was taken to a hospital for minor injuries.

Police described the suspect as 20-25-years-old, 5-foot-4, weighting approximately 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black shirt with dark pants and frameless eyeglasses.

He drove a light colored Lincoln Towncar.

Police released surveillance video of the cab driver, who was in a light colored Lincoln Town, as he walked towards the victim's building.
