By Nicholas Rizzi | July 17, 2012 12:51pm

STATEN ISLAND — A man crashed his car into the wall of a Graniteville supermaket on Tuesday, fire officials said.

The male driver was pulling into a parking space at around 10:37 a.m. when he crashed into the wall of the Shoprite at 985 Richmond Ave., the driver and fire officials said.

The driver, who did not want to give his name, said that when he put his foot on the brake of his car it slipped off onto the gas pedal, sending the car into the supermarket's wall.

"My foot slipped onto the gas pedal," he said. "That was it."

His wife was also in the car with him during the crash, he said.

Neither of them were taken to the hospital, fire officials said.
