Bronx Man Arrested for Hotel Rape

THE BRONX — Cops have arrested a 27-year-old man who allegedly raped a North Carolina woman in her Tremont hotel room after she asked him for directions on a subway in Union Square, the NYPD said Friday.

Ivan Jones, of Morris Avenue in Soundview, was charged with rape, robbery, strangulation and assault, police said.

The 33-year-old victim approached Jones on a subway train at Union Square and East 14th Street Wednesday just before 4 a.m., police said. He offered to show her the way to her hotel, and accompanied her to the Howard Johnson Express Inn on Boston Road in Tremont.

Minutes after the victim went to her room, Jones knocked on the door, pushed his way in and attacked her, police said.

Before fleeing, Jones allegedly stole $50, a cellphone and a pair of earrings from the woman.

The NYPD earlier this week released surveillance video of the suspect. "Ivan" was tattooed on his right shoulder and biceps, and "Tiffany" was inked on his left forearm.
