LOWER EAST SIDE — A man riding a dirt bike crashed into a truck at the corner of Rivington and Clinton streets Monday afternoon, authorities said.

The victim struck the parked vehicle about 2:25 p.m., the FDNY said.

Witnesses said they saw the man driving "erratically" and "excessively fast" in the neighborhood during the morning and afternoon, weaving in and out of traffic. His identity was not immediately known.

"He ran the red light. He dodged a car that was coming and ran into the truck," said Andre, 36, a super at a nearby building, who declined to give his last name and saw the man's "shattered" leg after he fell from the Honda motorbike. "He hit the truck. Nobody hit him."

A crowd of roughly 50 people gathered around the man, trying to hold him down as he writhed around screaming, witnesses said.
