UPPER EAST SIDE — A fire broke out in an apartment building across the street from The Carlyle Hotel Friday afternoon, the FDNY said.

The fire started on the fifth floor of 32 E. 76th St. between Madison and Park avenues just across from The Carlyle, a luxury hotel overlooking Central Park, about 2:30 p.m. Friday, an FDNY spokesman said.

Sixty firefighters responded to the 15-story building and brought the fire under control about 10 minutes later, the FDNY said.

No one was injured, the FDNY said.
