Police Hunting Gunman Who Shot Man on Bronx Basketball Court

THE BRONX — Police are hunting a gunman who shot and injured a 21-year-old man on a crowded basketball court in Melrose Sunday night, authorities said.

The shooting occurred on Courtlandt Avenue near East 156th Street about 7 p.m. on, when the suspect fired several times into the basketball court, striking the 21-year-old in the knee, the NYPD said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was in stable condition, police said.

The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect Friday showing him and a person of interest walking near the basketball court. The suspect is described as short and weighing about 17 to 20 years old, with black hair, an orange T-Shirt and shorts.

The person of interest was described as 18 to 25, with black corn-rows in his hair. In the video, he appears to be wearing a red T-shirt and dark pants.
