EAST VILLAGE — One person was stabbed and another was bitten at Webster Hall Friday night during a hardcore show that was part of the CBGB Festival, police said.
The stabbing and biting occurred about 8:15 p.m. at the 125 E. 11th St. music venue, in the middle of a show headlined by the Cro-Mags and Sick Of It All, according to police, the FDNY and the festival's website.
The two victims were transported to Bellevue Hospital Center in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The NYPD made one arrest but did not release any additional information Friday evening because the suspect had not been charged.
Authorities shut down Webster Hall after the stabbing, canceling the rest of the show, Bowery Boogie reported.
"Due to circumstances beyond our control, tonight’s event has been postponed," Webster Hall tweeted late Friday evening. "We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."
A representative of Webster Hall declined to comment. The CBGB Festival commented by email for several hours after the stabbing.
"We are saddened to learn about the events that occurred last night at Webster Hall," wrote spokesman Thomas Onorato. "Our primary concern is always the safety and experience of New Yorkers, music fans and the general public," who said the organization was cooperating with law enforcement.
He added that the rest of the four-day music and film festival would continue, including Saturday's free concert at 12 noon in Times Square, featuring Superchunk, The Hold Steady, and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.
The CBGB Festival, which runs through July 8, is part of an effort to re-launch the legendary Bowery rock venue, which shuttered in 2006. The club's new owners said in May that their goal was to revive the spirit of CBGB, which helped launch new bands into the limelight and introduced concert-goers to fresh, exciting music.
