32-Year-Old Shot and Injured in East Harlem Elevator Robbery

MANHATTAN — Police are searching for a gunman and an accomplice who robbed two men at gunpoint, then shot one of the victims in the leg in an East Harlem public housing elevator  Wednesday night, the NYPD reported.

The incident occurred at about 11:20 p.m. at 2375 First Ave., a 22-story high-rise that is part of the Senator Robert F. Wagner Houses, police said. The suspects robbed a 32-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, then shot the 32-year-old once in the leg.

The victim was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition, police said.

The gunman was described as 6-foot-2-inches tall and believed to be in his 20s. His accomplice was described as 6-foot-tall and also in his 20s. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and black pants.
