NEW SPRINGVILLE — A 29-year-old woman was found stabbed to death in her Forest Hill Road home Thursday, police said.
Simeonette Mapes was found stabbed "multiple times in the back," an NYPD spokeswoman said. Mapes's husband made the gruesome discovery about 1:48 p.m. in the entryway of the couple's apartment at 1446 Forest Hill Road, police said.
Mapes was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the FDNY. Swarms of NYPD cops flooded the area, near Latourette Park. The Mapes's home is in a housing development across the street from Latourette Golf Course.
An investigation is ongoing, police said.
Mapes and her husband were both teachers at the School for Classics and Academy of Thinkers, Writers and Performers in East New York, Brooklyn, a Department of Education spokeswoman said. Mapes was a social studies teacher and Crupi taught English.
In a recent post on her Facebook page, Mapes said she and Crupi had "survived a shoot out" at the school.
Mapes wrote that the violence was "just a hazard of working in East NY, Brooklyn. Things like this makes you appreciate all the blessings you have."
