NEW YORK — A 24-year-old man was found dead in in a trash compactor at a luxury Wall Street high-rise Friday morning, authorities said.

The man, whose identity was not immediately released, was discovered at 10:20 a.m. at 67 Wall St., the NYPD reported. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Initial reports had indicated that the man was removed and transported to a local hospital.

"There were cops all over, in the lobby and in front of the building," described Daniel Manzouri, 26, who said he has lived on the building's 18th floor for three years. "It's really scary, because even though there's a doorman, stuff can still happen.

"I'll definitely make sure my door will be locked."

The building's owner, Metro Loft, referred questions to the NYPD.

The investigation was ongoing.
