THE BRONX — Cops are hunting a man who cornered at least four women in South Bronx stairways and elevators and robbed them at knifepoint, the NYPD said Tuesday.
The crimes occurred over a 15-day period, beginning on May 25, police said. In each incident, the suspect confronted a female victim, flashed a box-cutter and snatched his victim's property before fleeing the scene.
Police declined to state what the man stole.
No injuries were reported in any of the robberies.
The first incident occurred about 10:15 p.m. on a stairway inside 1113 Grant Ave. in Concourse Village, police said. The second alleged robbery happened just 14 hours later on another stairway at 2800 University Ave. in Morris Heights.
The third incident took place on June 2, when the same suspect allegedly robbed a woman inside an elevator at 1001 Jerome Ave. in Concourse about 3:15 p.m, police said.
The last robbery occurred one week later, about 11:40 a.m., when the man accosted a woman inside an elevator at 1521 Sheridan Ave. in Claremont.
Police released surveillance video early Tuesday of the alleged suspect boarding an elevator while talking on a cell phone.
He was described as being between 25 to 30 years old, standing between 5-feet-6-inches and 5-feet-10-inches tall with a slender build, light-skinned complexion, bald head and light blue or green eyes, the NYPD said.
He also had a tattoo on his right forearm.
