NYPD Hunt for Duo Who Fired Shots in Armed Robbery Attempt

By Maya Shwayder | June 18, 2012 8:56pm

LOWER EAST SIDE — The NYPD is hunting for two men accused of an attempted armed robbery at a Duane Reade at 100 Delancey St. on Friday.

As the two men apparently approached the counter at roughly 11 p.m., demanding money from the cashier, one of the men pulled out a gun, police officials said Monday, releasing surveillance video of the duo.

When the cashier — a 21-year-old woman — refused to give them money, one suspect told the other, "Shoot her," according to police.

The man fired, missed the cashier and ran out of the store.

The cashier was not hurt.

Both men were described as being 40 - 45 years old.

One is believed to be approximately 5-feet-9-inches, with salt-and-pepper hair, a moustache and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a blue short sleeved jacket and white sneakers.

The other man had short dark hair and was last seen wearing a blue baseball hat with white symbol in front and a black jacket with white shirt underneath.

Anyone with any information in regards to this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).  The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
