FOREST HILLS — The lunch crowd in Forest Hills has yet another option to choose from, as Sammie's to Go joined the Austin Street food fray on June 4. The sandwich shop, which Edge of the City notes replaced NY Falafel Bar at 72-34 Austin St., serves subs and wraps and features a menu that heavily relies on Boar's Head meats.

After a two day-closure in late May, Martha's Country Bakery opened up in an expanded space next to its old location on June 1. Martha's, located at 70-28 Austin St., serves cakes of all kinds and includes an expanded seating area.

Rego Park has a new wine store with Wine House opening at 96-70 Queens Blvd. on Saturday. The store, which replaced a carpet shop, features vintages from Italy, Argentina and other parts of the world.

The Starbucks on Continental Avenue near Austin Street re-opened on June 9 after a four-day closure for renovation. The remodeled location features far less seating, but the staff insist the renovations aren't complete yet.

Cafe Old Vienna, located next to the Midway Theater at 108-22 Queens Blvd., has new management and has unveiled a new menu. Edge of the City notes that the new menu is lower priced and features more American dishes and the previous ownership.

On the horizon

Thrift store chain Second Time Around has posted help wanted fliers at their new location on Austin Street between 70th Road and Continental Avenue. Representatives for the location did not respond to inquiries about the location's opening date.
