FORDHAM MANOR — A two-alarm fire in a Fordham Manor apartment left five family members injured, one critically, according to the FDNY.

A fire department spokesman said they received a call at 3:16 a.m. about a fire on the top floor of the six-story East 191st Street apartment. In less than five minutes, 106 firefighters were on the scene, the spokesman said.

The fire was started in the apartment of a family of five, according to the FDNY. The father first got his wife and youngest child to safety, and then went back in for his other two children.

The father is suffering from burns and smoke-related injuries, and his condition was described by the FDNY as "critical." The other four family members suffered smoke-related injuries.

The fire was under control by 4:01 a.m., according to the spokesman.

Though the cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, the spokesman said they are focusing their investigation on the kitchen, and a New York Post report identified the cause of the fire as a pizza box left in the oven.
