WILLIAMSBURG — The L train is finally getting some love.

The popular subway line will increase service starting Sunday, the MTA confirmed, with seven more round-trips on Sundays, 11 more on Saturdays, and 16 more peak and off-peak round trip trains on weekdays.

Weekend ridership on the train has increased 141 percent since 1998, an MTA analysis revealed last year. State Sen. Daniel Squadron has been pushing the agency to increase service.

"Anyone tired of crushing crowds and overflowing trains will now have an L trip less likely to feel like hell," Squadron said of the new increase. "This is an important step toward a subway system that works for its riders every day of the week."
