OPENINGS:
Coffee connoisseurs have a new place in the Village to slam an espresso Italian-style. The first New York location of Segafredo Zanetti Espresso will open to the public at 504 Sixth Ave. on Tuesday.
The 2,500-square-foot cafe and cocktail lounge at the southeast corner of Sixth Avenue and West 13th Street will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Co-owner Bari Kang, who runs the cafe with his brother Amrinder, said he looked forward to bringing Italian coffee, food and espresso cocktails to the city.
"We have seen the recognition and success of Segafredo Zanetti cafés in Miami, Europe, Asia, South America and in over 650 locations worldwide and were stunned that New York City didn't catch on," Kang said in a statement.
Segafredo Zanetti will open daily at 7 a.m. and stay open until 2 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 4 a.m. Thursday through Saturday
New York's second location of the gourmet grocery store Agata & Valentina opened at 64 University Place May 30.
The store with the slogan "Fine Food & Good Ideas" opened its Upper East Side location on First Avenue at 79th Street 19 years ago, co-owner Louis Balducci said .
The former D'Agostino space between East 10th and East 11th streets was the right size and layout for Agata & Valentina, he said.
Like Fairway, the store sells its own line of coffee, fresh pasta, homemade desserts and more.
CLOSINGS:
The popular NoLita bar and brunch spot Nolita House at 47 E. Houston St. closed May 31 after eight years in business.
Its owners invited Facebook users to an "end of an era" closing party.
"After a great & Fun 8 years thanks to ya'll we will be closing our doors and looking for new adventures," they wrote. "THANK YOU ALL FOR THE YEARS OF LOVE & MEMORIES."
Joseph Hamboussi, a partner in the restaurant and the head of Hamboussi Hospitality Group, wrote on the company's Facebook page about opening a new restaurant but did not disclose its location or immediately return a request for comment.
Building owner Peter Goodman did not immediately return a request for comment on what's next for the space.
ON THE HORIZON:
The SoHo antiques shop Paula Rubenstein Ltd. will relocate after 20 years on Prince Street. According to a sign posted Tuesday on the door of the 65 Prince St. shop located between Crosby and Lafayette streets, the shop will move to 21 Bond St.
Rubenstein's shop, which specializes in high-end 19th and 20th century jewelry, home decor and lighting, will take over the NoHo space the women's clothing brand Daryl K moved out of in March after 25 years. Owner and designer Daryl Kerrigan told Women's Wear Daily she was "taking a break from retail," according to Racked.
Building owner Roc-Lafayette Associates, LLC did not immediately respond to an inquiry about what's next for the Prince Street space.
