EAST VILLAGE — A man died after plunging from the roof of a Second Avenue apartment building Tuesday morning, police said.

The unidentified man fell about six stories at 104 Second Ave. just after 9:30 a.m., fire officials said.

"I heard the sound," said Honorio Salas, 45, the building’s superintendent. "It sounded like someone dropped a piece of furniture. It was a loud boom."

His body was discovered in the courtyard behind the building, police said.

A police source said no criminality was suspected and the death is being investigated as a suicide.
